The brewery and foundation in Munich

Augustine monks began brewing beer in their monastery near Munich Cathedral as early as 1328. Nowadays, the popular Augustiner beer is brewed by experienced master brewers at Augustiner-Bräu Wagner KG, who continue with great passion to tend the draught beers in traditional wooden barrels. The Edith-Haberland-Wagner Foundation, founded in 1996, ensures the preservation of the brewery as a private company and is involved in youth protection, international understanding and promotion of culture.

Family business in Dresden

If you like endearing Saxony and hearty Bavaria, Augustiner an der Frauenkirche is the place for you. The owner family, Berger, moved from Bavaria and Thuringia to the enchanting city of Dresden, where they have been running the local restaurant with passion and skill in the name of the renowned Munich Augustiner brewery for around 15 years. Freshly tapped Augustiner beer and a variety of delicacies from Bavarian and Saxon cuisine have always delighted our guests from around the world as well as Dresden regulars – and rightly so, because traditional beer appreciation is very important to us.

We are known for our attentive hospitality and do our utmost to swiftly fulfil our guests’ wishes. Whether outside on the sun terrace, in the airy dining room or in the vaulted cellar, you should want for nothing. This is ensured by our numerous friendly employees, always easily recognisable by their traditional dirndls and lederhosen.

The beer has to taste good – that’s not up for debate. In addition to our own care in handling products, ingredients, facilities and equipment, Augustiner beers are also subject to extremely critical quality control by the venerable brewery in Munich. Augustiner also upholds its good name in Dresden. Of course, this also applies to all of our home-made dishes with many regional ingredients.
